‘Crock of bull crap,’ Serena Williams’ half-sister Sabrina believes ‘King Richard’ doesn’t deserve to win the Oscar

Sabrina Williams and Richard Williams
King Richard, a film based on the life of Richard Williams – Serena and Venus Williams‘ father, has received a lot of appreciation worldwide since its release. The film depicts the struggles Richard Willams faced- both financially and socially to train his daughters in playing tennis. Legendary actor Will Smith plays the character of Richard Williams and the film has won a string of awards.
The movie is also nominated for the 2022 Oscars and is amongst the favourites to win the ‘Best Actor’ award. While many think King Richard deserves to win the award, Richard Williams‘ eldest daughter, Sabrina, feels that the film doesn’t deserve the Oscar. Richard walked out on in his first marriage when Sabrina was only eight and has met her only a handful of times.
The 57-year old called the ‘whole thing’ a crock of bull crap because of the timing of the award. Sabrina lost her son just a few weeks before and according to her, Richard didn’t even call her to know her whereabouts.
“This whole thing is a crock of bull crap,” says Sabrina in an interview with Sun. “It’s twice as painful because my son is gone and then I have to think about people winning awards. I’m just so done. I mean, God bless Will Smith, and I guess he deserves the awards, as you can’t fault his ability as an actor.”
She added that she ain’t mad at Will Smith because it isn’t her fault. “I’m not mad at Will Smith, I really don’t care, an actor’s gotta make money and an A-lister wants these sort of things as I guess the more Oscars you have on your shelf, the better it is for you,” she said.
She further said that she is only mad at Richard because the movie didn’t depict his past family at all. She said that until her dad dies, Richard will never be King Richard for her no matter what the public thinks.
“I can only, at the end of the day, project any feelings of frustration, on Richard himself. The whole-ass movie was told and it wasn’t even the true story with nothing about his past family. Until the day my dad dies, he’ll never be King Richard in my own mind, no matter what the public thinks,” she said.
‘He’s not a King!’ Sabrina Williams slams ‘King Richard’ Williams

According to Sabrina, Richard Williams didn’t even have the courtesy to call her after his grandson died. She said that if he really is a king, why didn’t he call to say sorry?
“If he was such a King, why the f*** didn’t he call to say: ‘I’m sorry about your son?’ It is what it is. I’m sure he’s out shopping for a suit or something for Sunday, but can’t pick up a phone to say sorry about your loss,” she said.
