Davis Cup 2021
The Davis Cup 2021 is around the corner and will be the first edition of the new format of the Davis Cup that was introduced in 2019 and was supposed to be played for the first time in 2020 but the Pandemic forced the ITF to cancel the event that year prioritising the safety of the players and everyone involved in the organising.
Spain is the defending champion having defeated Canada in the 2019 edition and are also one of the three host nations for this year’s edition. Innsbruck in Austria, Madrid in Spain and Turin in Italy are the 3 three host cities for this year’s edition. All the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final match will be played in Spain.
Davis Cup 2021 Format
The 18 nations have been divided into six groups of three teams each where they will be playing against the other members in the round-robin format. The six group winners and the two second-placed teams with the best records based on the percentage of matches won (followed by the percentage of sets won and then the percentage of games won) will qualify for the quarterfinals.
