‘Decision Making and Discipline!’ Marcos Giron explains the reasons behind Rafael Nadal’s success

Rafael Nadal

American tennis star Marcos Giron locked horns with Australian Open 2022 champion, Rafael Nadal in the opening round of the Aussie Open 2022. This was the first time Marcos encountered Rafa and ended up losing the game and getting knocked out of the tournament.

Recently in an interview, Marcos was asked about Rafael and their match. To this, he said that competing against Rafa was very tough for him and he understood why defeating him is difficult. He said the reason is that Rafa is very disciplined and the way he plays is commendable and inspiring. Not only he is a master of speed and power but the decisions he makes while playing make it hard to knock him out.

“I think it’s taken for granted how disciplined he is, his shots are just phenomenal. When you play against him, it’s not just the power and speed he plays with, but also the decisions he makes, so it’s hard to beat him. It was very difficult to get into his service games. The kicks from him are not too powerful, but what he is able to do with his decisions is impressive,” Giron said

Later in the interview, the American also opened up on the Big 3 of tennis. He said that Rafa, Novak, and Roger all are very difficult to beat. But change is taking place and defeating them might be difficult but not impossible.

“I think Rafa, Novak, and Fed are incredible, almost impossible for anyone to beat. But a change is taking place. Novak won three Slams last year, but we are 12 Americans in the top 100. We are excited and hungry, at the gates. At the Grand Slams, we are working hard. It’s possible, anything can happen,” Giron said.

Currently, on tour, the American is playing the Delray Beach Open and will face countryman Tennys Sandgren in the opening round of Tuesady.
