A day away from becoming the World no. 1 Iga Swiatek, has been on a roll with her most recent achievement being the Miami Open 2022 against Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka. The Polish star has won three consecutive WTA-1000 titles in Doha, Indian Wells and Miami to start the season in a fantastic manner.

The victories however have taken a toll on the player as she has injured her arm in the process and needs to rest before returning to the Tour. As a result, she has announced that she will not be taking part in the Charleston Open 2022 which will start from 4th April 2022. She stated, “I hoped to start the clay season in charleston but unfortunately, i need to wait to play this great tournament with big traditions.”

The withdrawal had reactions from a few fans as well who were eager to catch the new World No. 1 in action. Although fans are disappointed that she won’t be taking part in the tournament they are also concerned about her health and want her to be ready in time for her to concentrate on her next Grand Slam tournament. The 20-year old has already created history by being the first woman to have won all three WTA-1000 titles at the start of the season.
