Dominic Thiem intends to be vaccinated by November, reveals his comeback strategy

2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem hasn’t had much luck this season. He struggled with form at the beginning of the season and suffered a wrist injury later which ruled him out for the remainder of the season. But fortunately for him, Thiem doesn’t need a surgery and is already in recovery.
In order to compete at the 2022 Australian Open, players will have to be vaccinated and Thiem too intends to get shot by the end of November. He revealed that he isn’t vaccinated yet and is waiting for the Novavax vaccine.
“I am not vaccinated yet. I actually want to wait for the Novavax vaccine because I heard from my doctor that it should be really good,” Thiem said at the media talk. With regard to Australia, however, there is a deadline for November 26th, by which time the players have to be fully immunized to enter the country. “If it works out,” Thiem wants to be vaccinated with Novavax if it’s possible before the deadline. “If not, I’ll get something else vaccinated.”
‘The goal is of course Australia,’ Thiem on his comeback
Thiem also gave an update about his comeback. The Austrian star said that he’ll be back on court for the first time in the first week of November. He will then assess his physical state and take the next call.
He also added that his goal is to be back at Australia in January and will play a few matches ahead of that in order to get in form. “I will probably go for the first time again in the first week of November”.
After that, it will take three to four weeks before he is back in reasonably good shape. Therefore, in this scenario, Abu Dhabi, prior to Australian Open is realistic and also looks good. “The goal is of course Australia and for that I need a few matches at a good level”, said Thiem.
