Emma Raducanu
World No. 22 Emma Raducanu is without a doubt one of the most followed tennis players right now after her heroics at the 2021 US Open. Starting the tournament as a qualifier ranked 150th in the world, Emma at the end of the tournament, was the first Grand Slam winner who started as a qualifier and did not drop a set throughout while seeing a massive jump in her rankings of over 120 spots.
Emma in no time became the heart of Britain for her amazing feat in New York and has been closely followed ever since. Having not made an appearance on the Tour since then, fans were awaiting the confirmation when they can see the tennis prodigy back in action. While many speculated Emma will return for the upcoming 2021 Indian Wells, things were not so easy for Emma to play in the tournament.
The Brit was ranked World No. 150 when the entries for the Indian Wells Open closed which meant that Emma had to play the qualifiers and then enter the main-draw. Emma’s process to enter the main-draw was cut short after she was handed the wildcard after her victory in the US Open and the 18-year old will now be playing in the main-draw directly and might get seeded as well.
Emma took to her Instagram profile to post her picture after reaching the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, the location of the WTA-1000 event that will begin from next week. This will be Emma’s 3rd WTA Tour-level tournament.

Emma made her WTA Tour debut at the 2021 Viking Open in Nottingham but lost in the first round itself to compatriot Harriet Dart. She then played at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships where she shot to fame after becoming the youngest British woman to reach the 4th round of the Championships.
She next played on the Tour at the 2021 Silicon Valley Classic where she entered via a wildcard again but could not pick up her first tour win going out in the first round once again. The Indian Wells Open 2021 will be her 3rd Tour tournament and might be the first tournament where she gets her much-awaited tour win given her fantastic form in New York last month.
