British teenage sensation, Emma Raducanu scripted history at US Open 2021, as she became the first ever qualifier to claim the prestigious title. The 18-year-old won 10 consecutive matches to claim the coveted trophy, and did not drop even a single set in the main draw.

In her latest venture following her US Open title, she will now compete at the Indian Wells this week. She received a wildcard for the main draw, and was also awarded with a first round bye due to her higher ranking. The pressure will now be on Raducanu to deliver at one of the most prestigious WTA tournaments of the year, as she is no longer just a dark horse.

Emma Raducanu recently revealed the highlight of her US Open 2021 win at the Flushing Meadows three weeks earlier. In the finals, she defeated the Canadian, Leylah Fernandez in straight sets to lift her maiden Grandslam title.

Emma Raducanu revealed that the highlight of her tournament was the night on which she claimed the US Open 2021 title. “The highlight for me still and always will be (was) on the night I won…when we went back to a hotel and it was just me and the team, having a really nice meal and chatting and reflecting on the past three weeks,” said Raducanu.

Emma Raducanu has seen a steep rise in her career that started with her incredible run at Wimbledon 2021. The British teenager reached the fourth round at Wimbledon 2021. She also reached the finals of Chicago Challenger prior to her epic run at US Open 2021.

Seeded 17th at Indian Wells, Emma Raducanu will clash against Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the second round encounter. The 18-year-old is expected to face two-time Grandslam champion, Simona Halep in a blockbuster third round match up at Indian Wells.
