The WTA Jalisco Open, which is held in Guadalajara, Mexico, has commenced this year. The main draw of the tournament began yesterday, and there has already been plenty going on in the tournament. For starters, 1st seed Emma Raducanu was forced to retire from her round of 32 clash against Daria Saville due to an injury, in what was her first match since her Australian Open disappointment. Before that, 2nd seed Madison Keys was dumped out of the tournament the previous day by Harmony Tan.
Raducanu takes part in hilarious interview
Emma Raducanu’s bad luck continued as she was dumped out of the round of 32 of the WTA Guadalajara Open after she was forced to retire in the match against Daria Saville during the 3rd set due to injury. This was the British No.1’s first match since the Australian Open.
However, on the bright side, the 19-year-old took part in a hilarious interview with fellow professionals Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens in which the trio was answering questions about themselves and their fellow professionals.
The interview started with the question of who has the best fashion sense in the tennis fraternity. While the other two were prompt to give their answers, Emma hilariously struggled to find a name and revealed that she doesn’t meet many of her colleagues outside the court.
Speaking on a professional whom she would like to play with, Raducanu picked Murray as the player she was most excited to play with. The Briton revealed that she would love to play mixed doubles with fellow Briton Andy Murray.
“I would love to play mixed doubles with Andy Murray,”– revealed Raducanu.
However, among former players, the teenager went with two-time Grand Slam champion Li Na, saying that it would be “special” to play alongside her idol. Raducanu also added that the Chinese champion was the player she admired the most. “Li Na, probably. I think it is special to play with your idol,” said the youngster.
During the course of the interview, Raducanu also revealed that fellow Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza was very funny.
