Roger Federer
Roger Federer makes his much-awaited return at Geneva Open 2021, as he competes in his first clay court tournament in two years. The Swiss maestro last played at the Qatar Open 2021, where he was defeated in the quarterfinals. The 39-year old is scheduled to play four tournaments in the next two months, and will hope to be at his 100% before the Wimbledon Championships.
Roger Federer has received a bye in the first round of Geneva Open 2021, and will face the Spaniard, Pablo Andujar in the second round. Andujar is an experienced campaigner, and is a tricky opponent on clay courts. However, Roger Federer has been practicing hard in the recent days, and is expected to be at his best in the second round. This tournament will be a stepping stone for the Swiss, as he competes at the French Open 2021, later this month.
Pablo Andujar ‘thrilled’ to play against Roger Federer
Pablo Andujar defeated Jordan Thompson in straight sets in the first round of Geneva Open 2021. The Spaniard breezed past the Australian, and dropped just four games throughout the match. He also dropped a bagel on his opponent in the first set. Andujar spoke highly of his second round opponent in Geneva, Roger Federer.
Pablo Andujar and Roger Federer will face each other for the first time on Wednesday. The Spaniard is excited with the prospect of coming up against one of the tennis greats.
“Facing Roger Federer for the first time is a dream come true. It’s something I will tell my children and grand-children when I am old,” said Andujar.
Pablo Andujar last played at the Madrid Open 2021, where he suffered a first round exit. However, he did all the hardwork to book a spot in the main draw, as he won two qualifying round matches.
