Bianca Andreescu vs Tamara Zidansek: Preview
Sixth seed Bianca Andreescu returned to clay for the first time since the 2019 French Open this week at the 2021 Internationaux de Strasbourg. The Canadian made a delayed start to her claycourt campaign after a positive COVID-19 test prevented her from playing in the Madrid Open and quarantine protocols forced her to pull out of the Italian Open.
But to her misery, after winning the opening two matches comfortably, she was forced to pull out of the event due to an injury scare. She later revealed that her decision was precautionary and that she will be fit to play at Paris.
As for her opponent Tamara Zidansek, she has been in decent form this Clay season. She reached the Final of the Copa Colsanitas in Bogota and then took World No.1 Ash Barty to three sets in Madrid. She also made it to the main draw at Rome.
Bianca Andreescu vs Tamara Zidansek: Head-to-Head
This will be the first meeting between the duo. The two players haven’t met on tour yet and hence the H2H stands deadlock at 1-0.
Bianca Andreescu vs Tamara Zidansek: Prediction
Bianca Andreescu will go in as the favorite on paper going into the match. However, there is uncertainty over her injury status. If she is fully match fit, it should be an easy outing for her. But in no way she would take Zidansek lightly. The Slovenian star has troubled some big names and would want to upset Andreescu too. Expect a good match with the Canadian marching forward.
Prediction: Andreescu to win in straight sets.
