Aslan Karatsev vs Jenson Brooksby: Preview
The Russian is coming into this match having played 13 matches on the clay this season, with eight wins and five defeats. The 27-year-old raised quite a few eyebrows by beating top-ranked Novak Djokovic in front of his home fans in Serbia. In the same week, he also made the finals, but was denied the title in the deciding set by Matteo Berrettini. Later, the Russian also made the third round in Madrid and Rome. He comes into the French Open as threat to most of the opponents. The 27-year-old has already made the semis in Melbourne to kick off the year, and going by his recent run, another impressive performance cannot be ruled out in Paris.
On the other hand, the American is coming into the French Open after winning the Tallahassee challenger in April. He also had to play three qualifying rounds to get into the main draw in Paris. Although he hasn’t played top-level tennis with the elite on the dirt in 2021, he still has an 8-0 win/loss record.
Aslan Karatsev vs Jenson Brooksby: Head to Head
These two have never met on the tour before.
Aslan Karatsev vs Jenson Brooksby: Prediction
The Russian has been in sparkling form this season and after his Australian Open heroics, it would be a folly to write him off at Roland Garros. Karatsev has a solid game from the back court and has already shown he is capable of the grind against the very best players. His 20-year-old American opponent will do well to hang in with Karatsev in this opening round.
Match Prediction: Aslan Karatsev should win in three sets.
