‘Grand slam champion becomes amateur’ Rafael Nadal participates in Golf Tournament in Spain

Rafael Nadal
21-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal is currently taking a small break after his historic feat in Australia when he defeated World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the 2022 Australian Open to become the first man ever to win 21 majors. Nadal had to rally from 2-sets down to claw his way back into the finals and clinch the title in what was the second-longest Grand Slam final.
Nadal participated in two tournaments during his month-long stay in Australia. He first won the Tour title at the 2022 Melbourne Summer Set and then won the Grand Slam to cap off a successful trip Down Under picking up his 89th and 90th career title. Given his long injury spell on the sidelines that led to him thinking of his retirement and then winning the Slam, it was an amazing comeback for the Spaniard.
As Nadal prepares to return to the Tour, Rafa participated at the 2022 Cto Baleares Mid Amateur Golf Tournament bringing out his clubs and swing on the golf course. Nadal was seen wearing a Grey Polo T-shirt with black inners and sporting his white Nike’s with a matching white cap as well.
Rafael Nadal yet to confirm his return date

With Nadal having signed up for the upcoming 2022 Acapulco Open in Mexico that begins on 21st February. Nadal has played at the tournament on multiple occasions and is a 3-time former champion and is likely to play at the tournament which will conclude by 26th February as well. But Nadal is yet to confirm whether he will actually show up as he has already announced his decision to select tournaments only on the advice of his medical team.
Nadal has confirmed that he will be playing at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters that begins on 10th March in California. While the tournaments do give him a break of more than 10 days provided Nadal makes the finals, the final decision on his trip to Mexico is yet to be confirmed. However, with March having only the 2022 Miami Masters scheduled after the Indian Wells, Nadal might actually turn up for the ATP-500 tournament in Mexico to move closer to the Top-3.
