Has any lucky loser ever won a Masters tournament?

Jan-Lennard Struff

The ATP calendar has a number of tournaments on its schedule every season. The events are categorized on the basis of the ranking points it offers, with the lowest one being the ATP 250 event. Next comes the ATP 500 event, which is followed by the most prestigious Masters events.

The ATP Masters tournament offers 1000 ranking points to the winner, and is considered as the biggest event after the four Grand Slams. There are only a couple of these which are held every season, with most of them being held on hard courts. It takes immense grit and consistency to win the Masters tournament, given most of them have six to seven rounds.

Till date, no lucky loser has been able to win a Masters tournament. A lucky loser is a participant who gets an opportunity to compete in the main draw of the tournament, despite losing in the qualifying rounds. This is due to the fact that a player in the main draw pulled out of the event.
