World No.1 Novak Djokovic had a difficult time in Australia last month when his stay was limited to just 10 days as he was deported and banned from entering Australia for 3-years on 16th January 2022, a few hours before his 1st round match in the 2022 Australian Open where he was the 3-time defending champion and a record 9-time tournament champion.

The Serbian returned to action at the Dubai Tennis Championship earlier this month. However, his much-awaited comeback didn’t go to plan as he lost to Jiri Vesely in a shock upset in the quarter-finals. which also resulted in the Serbian dropping to the 2nd spot in the ATP rankings.

Mouratoglou believes Djokovic is authentic

Patrick Mouratoglou is a world-class coach and a well-respected and knowledgeable personality in the world of tennis. The Frenchman recently put out a video on Instagram about Novak Djokovic, dismissing criticism aimed at Djokovic, suggesting that he is not his authentic self and that he tries too hard to be loved, are without basis. The Frenchman is of the opinion that the World No. 2 is one of the most authentic players to have graced the sport.

The French coach revealed that emphasized that according to him, the criticisms that Djokovic plays only be loved is completely baseless. He then emphasized that the Serbian is one of the most authentic players in the history of the sport.

“One of the main criticisms people say about Novak Djokovic is that he is not authentic. That he is playing to be loved, that he doesn’t show his real personality. I believe the opposite,” Mouratoglou said. “I think he is extremely authentic,” said Mouratoglou.

He then talked about Djokovic’s stand on vaccination, stating that despite the controversy, he respected the 34-year old’s clear stance and honesty. He noted noting that the former World No. 1 could have very easily faked a vaccination report and avoided all of the accompanying scandals. Doing so would have allowed him to win the biggest tournaments and solidify his status as one of the greatest in tennis.
