Jenson Brooksby, current world no. 48, is an emerging superstar on the ATP Tour. Hailing from the USA, Brooksby tasted success at the USTA National Under-18 Championships in 2018.

A year later, he entered a major’s main draw for the first time at the US Open. Jenson Brooksby showcases a high rally tolerance coupled with an impeccable ability to outlast his opponents in baseline duels. Born on October 26, 2000, Brooksby started playing tennis at the age of four.

Having ousted Czech ace Tomas Berdych in four sets in his tournament opener, Brooksby fell to Nikoloz Basilashvili in the next round. In 2021, the American caught tour-wide attention upon making his way to the fourth round, defeating the likes of Michael Ymer, Aslan Karatsev, and Taylor Fritz in the process, but came up short against eventual runner-up Novak Djokovic.

Blistering Career Start

Jenson reached his first ATP Tour final at the 2021 Hall of Fame Open in Newport, defeating Denis Kudla and Jordan Thompson. The 2021 Citi Open saw him fend off Felix Auger-Aliassime to earn his first top-20 win, which paved his path to his first-ever ATP 500 quarterfinal. He ousted John Millman in the last eight before falling to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals. He entered the 2021 European Open and made it to the last four.

To the tour’s surprise, Jenson Brooksby became the youngest American to reach the fourth round of the US Open since Andy Roddick in 2002. He’s coming off a lukewarm 2022, winning just 27 matches out of 50, including a straight-sets loss to Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open. Known as a defensive baseliner, Brooksby’s counterpunching style of play and shot mechanics have been termed unorthodox by his peers.

At the 2022 BNP Paribas Open, he reached a career-best fourth round. He defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas for his first-ever top-10 win on tour. He went on to reach the fourth and third rounds at the Miami and Rome Masters, respectively. At the 2022 Dallas Open, Brooksby reached his second ATP final, where he lost to Reilly Opelka. In addition to this, Jenson secured 2nd place at the 2022 Atlanta Open.
