World No.1 Ash Barty is currently preparing for the Australian Open 2022. The Aussie superstar is coming off a solid season, maintaining the top position in the rankings at the end of the year while also winning 6 WTA titles.
After achieving the top rank, Barty would now look to win a grand slam on home soil, with her two Grand Slams coming at the Wimbledon and the French Open. Having reached the semi-finals of the tournament last year, Barty would look to go all the way at the Australian Open 2022.
The Aussie top seed would open the new season at Adelaide, starting in the first week of January. She had won the tournament in its inaugural year in 2020.

Ash Barty managed to take some time from preparing for her home Grand Slam to spend time with and fulfill the dream of a young fan suffering from a serious illness.
She teamed up with make-A-wish Australia this week to fulfill the wish of 10-year old Paige in Brisbane. The little girl wanted to meet her idol Barty since childhood.
While training at the Pat Rafter Arena at the Queensland Tennis Center, the 25-year-old took time to fulfill Paige’s wish. She invited Paige to her training session, where fellow Aussie stars Priscilla Horn and Kimberley Birrell were also practicing.
Post-training, Paige, who suffers from Cystic fibrosis since birth, then got the opportunity to team up with Barty in a doubles match against Horn and Birrell. Following the match, Barty signed some tennis balls for the young fan.
Her family too were overwhelmed by this incredibly kind and thoughtful gesture by the World No.1. Her father Brian said, “I can’t believe Make-A-Wish made Paige’s wish come true, she was ecstatic and still has a smile on her face. I was nearly in tears too.”
He also went on to thank Make-A-Wish for making his daughter’s dream come true. “This opportunity has changed my daughter’s life, thank you Make-A-Wish for making Paige’s wish come true,” he added.
