Matteo Berrettini is a professional tennis player from Italy. He has a career high ATP singles ranking of world No. 8, which he reached on November 4, 2019, and a career high ATP doubles ranking of world No. 105, which he got on July 22, 2019. He advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 US Open. Berrettini has won five ATP singles titles and two doubles titles. He’s yet to win a grandslam.

At the same event, he won his first ATP doubles title alongside Daniele Bracciali. Berrettini won his second ATP singles title at the Hungarian Open 2019, defeating Filip Krajinovi in the final. Berrettini’s progress continued into the grass court season, when he won his third singles championship in Stuttgart, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final. Berrettini’s service was not broken once during the event, making him only the sixth player since 1999 to win two championships without dropping serve.
Berrettini won the Serbian open in 2021 defeating Aslan Karatsev. He became the first Italian male tennis player to reach the fourth round of every Grand Slam tournament at the French Open 2021. He finally reached his second Grand Slam quarterfinal, but Roger Federer withdrew before their fourth-round encounter, claiming the need to avoid injuries following a lengthy recovery from knee operations. In the quarterfinals, he was defeated in four sets by World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. On 20 June, he won his greatest championship to date, the Queen’s Club Championships, his first on the ATP 500 level. He became the first debutant to win the Queen’s Club championship since Boris Becker in 1985, and the first Italian in history to do so.
