Novak Djokovic was struck a huge blow as upon his arrival in Melbourne last week, his Australian Visa was cancelled by the Border Forces. The Serbian was granted medical exemption in order to compete in Australia, because the world number one remains unvaccinated.

According to what is known, Novak Djokovic applied for medical exemption on the basis of testing positive for covid-19 on December 16, 2020. However, as stated by his lawyers in the court hearing, that might not be the case.

According to the protocols, a traveler had to make a declaration before flying into Australia. Boarding his flight from Dubai, Novak Djokovic filled out the form which had three categories. The Serbian chose category B which stated that he remains unvaccinated because he has a medical contradiction to the vaccine.

Novak Djokovic’s lawyer stated that while filling out the above said form, Novak Djokovic had to only make the declaration. The Serbian did not have to produce the evidence of having a negative reaction to the vaccine before boarding the aircraft.

Novak Djokovic won the hearing on Monday, as the court has ordered the Australian Border Forces to set him free and release him from detention. However, Australian government will still have a say in regards to the topic as they have the power to re-cancel his visa.

As of now, there has been no statement issued by Novak Djokovic. However, a press is expected to be held by the Serbian later on in the day. Serbian fans have created a havoc on the streets, as the police forces have had a hard time getting things in control.
