“I am convinced that I can still do great things,” Stan Wawrinka optimistic despite a defeat in his comeback match at the Marbella Challenger 2022
Stan Wawrinka
Stan Wawrinka‘s return to action was not a success as the three-time grand slam champion suffered from a shocking straight-set defeat to Elias Ymer in the Marbella Challenger 2022. The final score of the match was 6-2,6-4 which in itself was a shocker, as ‘Stan the Man’ lost the match in straight sets.
One would have expected him to feel extremely anxious about the outcome, but that was not the case. Wawrinka was far from getting any negative thoughts. He says that what motivates him to play is his love for tennis and not to remain fit, showing his determination towards the sport and his eagerness to sacrifice to continue playing.
” I love this game and the emotions it brings. We are privileged to do this job and I still want to do it for a short period of my life quite simply. I didn’t want to end up injured and remain convinced that I still have great things to do big results. This is what I have been fighting for, for a year and what I will continue to fight for in the coming weeks,” said Wawrinka after his defeat as reported by Welovetennis.
This is an admirable statement by the tennis star who has fought hard and has gone through two major foot surgery. He still wants to stay in the game and continue playing tennis simply because he loves the sport. He continued to believe in himself and most importantly, still felt he had a lot left to achieve in his career.
Stan Wawrinka continues to remain Positive and Optimistic
Remaining optimistic and staying calm is one of the most important things that a player has to be and focus on in the next or upcoming matches and this is exactly what the Swiss star has been doing and the reason why fans still continue to support him. The Olympics Gold medallist is not yet ready to call it a day having celebrated his 37th birthday just a few days ago.
Wawrinka’s goal remains to compete in the 2022 French Open where he will have to showcase his skill and the result of his training. He has a good two months to prepare for the Grand Slam with various Tour events available for him to hone his skills as, despite his low ranking, he can easily get wildcards for his proven track record.
