“I can’t imagine it at the moment” coach Severin Luthi Doubts Roger Federer’s Presence at the Wimbledon 2022

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has not been on professional grounds since Wimbledon 2021. At Wimbledon, the player had a good run and won the round of 16 by knocking out Lorenzo Sonego with a score of 7-5,6-4,6-2. The player then played the quarter-finals against Hubert Hurkacz but lost with a score of 3-6,6-7,0-6 and got knocked out of the tournament.
The player spent the rest of the last season recovering from his leg injury. His right knee has been operated on thrice since the last season. Everyone including Roger’s coach Severin Lüthi doubts the presence of the Swiss in the upcoming tournaments of the season.

Federer’s comeback has become a matter of concern for his coach Luthi. He does not think that Roger will be able to play at Wimbledon this season, given his current situation. The player is still in the rehabilitation phase and there is progress in his condition but he is still not in a state to play.
“He can always do more, is actively working. Not only the muscles of the knee or leg are built up, but the whole body is strengthened. It’s a real conditioning program. At the moment I don’t see how he should play in Wimbledon either. I’m not the one who says: impossible. But I can’t imagine it at the moment.” The coach said.
According to recent updates, Roger has slowly started getting back on the court and will play with his wife, Mirka for a while and slowly but steadily get back in action. “The main thing for him is to slowly get back in,” Luthi said on this.
The Swiss is currently in recovery and is expected to start training on the court in a month or two. He has said that he wants to compete at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships but it will be difficult for him to gain 100% in a few months.
