Stefanos Tsitsipas has been kept busy during the current clay court season. The Greek is playing fifth tournament on clay at the Lyon Open this week. The second seed defeated Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets in the quarterfinals, and dropped just seven games in the whole match. He also scored a straight sets victory over Tommy Paul in the second round clash, after receiving a bye in the first round.

Stefanos Tsitsipas will now face the Italian, Lorenzo Musetti in semifinals on Saturday. The duo faced each other at the Mexican Open earlier this year, where the Greek won easily in straight sets, and dropped just four games throughout the match. However, this time, Tsitsipas expects a tough challenge from Musetti this week in Lyon.

“We played in different conditions [and] on a hard court. The conditions here are different. We share similar games with a one-handed backhand, which is beautiful to see. Tomorrow is going to be serious business and I know he can play well on this surface and elevate his game,” said Tsitsipas.

“I have been following his performances, he has been improving a lot and has a good record on clay, beating some good opponent, I expect big things for him,” the Greek added.

On the other hand, Lorenzo Musetti stated that Tsitsipas is one of the best players on tour, and hopes to avenge his loss from the Mexican Open 2021.

He is one of the best guys on Tour,” said Musetti on Friday. “Acapulco was really tough for me as I played a lot of matches and I didn’t have enough energy to play 100 per cent. He served really well, and he played well with the forehand, moving me around a lot. I will try to lead the match and try not have him dominate me,” said Musetti.
