Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Novak Djokovic

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, currently ranked number 47 is a die-hard Roger Federer fan in the world is playing in Monte-Carlo Masters and he faced Novak Djokovic in the round of 64. The Spaniard had attained the highest ranking of 32 in 2021. Recently in an interview, Fokina revealed just how big of a Roger fan he is. Federer has been an inspiration to many players throughout his career. He is 40 and he is still going strong. He is not as potent as he once was, but nonetheless, he is still a force to be reckoned with. You can tell that by the fact that he reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon in 2021, aged 39 and with a knee injury.

The Australian Open 2009 was a painful experience for Federer when he lost a grueling 5-set fight to Rafael Nadal. Defending champion Novak Djokovic had to retire and from then on, it was a two-horse race to the finish line. Roger and Rafa’s rivalry is of epic proportions and so is their bond. But, a loss after a very tough battle stings quite a lot. Federer could be seen in tears after the match and most of his fans would have been just as sad.

Davidovich Fokina says that he cried with Roger after the match. That should be enough to indicate how much love, respect, and admiration is present in the fans for their idol. And if the idol is like Roger, there is all the more reason for it. (I myself cried after Rafa’s win in the 2022 Australian Open)
