“I hear no f*****g talking now” Nick Kyrgios mocks Casper Ruud on camera during their match in Indian Wells
Nick Kyrgios and Casper Ruud
Ever since Nick Kyrgios and Casper Ruud met in the 2019 Rome Masters, the pair have found ways to take a dig at each other. During their meeting in Italy, Nick was very animated having thrown a chair on the court, kicked a bottle and hurled abuses at the chair umpire for a poor call as per him, all of which led to a massive fine for the Australian.
As the duo prepared to clash in the third round of the ongoing 2022 Indian Wells Masters, drama and tension were expected to take over the match. While Kyrgios went on to win the match 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 16 minutes, the Australian made sure that his feelings towards the clay-court specialist Norwegian were well known to everyone in the stadium.
From what appears a video captured after the first set was won by Nick, the Australian was wearing his shoes when he noticed the camera near him. Looking into the camera, he said, “I hear no talking now, I hear no talking now. None. F*****g none.” The comments were directed towards Ruud as Nick had taken the upper hand in the match and mocked the Norwegian for his silence having earlier engaged in various Twitter fights.
After winning the match point, Nick gave out a massive roar to celebrate his win. While the pair was civil during their handshake at the net, Nick returned to the court after shaking hands with the umpire and led out another massive roar and a few words that were not audible but one could interpret through his actions that he was saying, “I can’t hear anything.”
Nick Kyrgios to take on Jannik Sinner next
Having made it to the 4th round of the tournament for the second time, Kyrgios is one win away from matching his best run at Indian Wells having reached the quarter-finals in 2017 when he defeated Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic in back-to-back matches and was set to take on Roger Federer in the last-8 but an injury forced him to give a walkover.
Nick will now take on Italian youngster Jannik Sinner in their first meeting on the Tour. Sinner comes into the 4th round with a first-round bye, straight-set win in the second round and a 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-4 win over Benjamin Bonzi in the third round. While Sinner is one of the brightest prospects on the Tour, he will have to put in a massive shift against Kyrgios who is yet to drop a set this week.
