Nick Kyrgios is one of the most well-known and popular players on the ATP Tour. The Australian is known for his controversial comments and outbursts on court. He never shies away from speaking what’s on his mind, be it against any player.

In a recent interview, Nick Kyrgios revealed how he ignored outside distractions in order to become a better player. The Australian stated that he put too much emphasis on other people’s opinions and expectations, which made him an unhappy individual.

Now, Nick Kyrgios stated that the only person he reflects upon is himself. “When you want to do something and you keep getting told that you are in not good enough. That was actually one of the toughest moments for me, like when I was losing matches, I was letting so many people down,” said Kyrgios.

The Australian added that it was important for him to stop worrying, and instead look himself in the mirror and be proud of what he has achieved so far.

And then I just stopped worrying about what other thought, and I just look myself into the mirror, and say I am proud of what I have done,” he added.

Nick Kyrgios stated that becoming a professional player is a very difficult task, and there is no single path to get there. The Australian believes that there are several different ways to get to where one wants to be.

You know there is no straight line to getting to the top of your sport. Everyone’s different. Every athlete has different rules, different rituals, personalities, different game styles. Don’t forget those people who were putting that into you and use it as a fuel, but do it your own way,” Kyrgios said.

Nick Kyrgios had recently tested positive for covid-19, as he pulled out from the tournament in Sydney. However, he still does have time to recover and participate in his home slam, Australian Open 2022.
