Daniil Medvedev enters the French Open 2021 as the second seed, and will look to put up a strong performance in Paris this year. As strange as it sounds, Daniil Medvedev is yet to win his first match at the French Open, and has lost four matches consecutively in Paris.

Daniil Medvedev gave his opinion on Naomi Osaka’s decision to skip the press conference at the French Open 2021. The Russian adopted a neutral stance, and believes that each player is subject to his/her opinion. Medvedev respected Osaka’s decision but does not necessarily agree with her.

“First of all, me in life it’s quite easy. I think I respect everybody’s opinion. Doesn’t mean that I have to agree with their opinion. Doesn’t matter if it’s Benoit Paire, Naomi Osaka, or Nick Kyrgios. I want to say, I understand why she does it. I respect her opinion,” said Medvedev.

Daniil Medvedev stated that he has no problems with journalists. He also revealed that he finds himself in a much better space at times, after speaking at a press conference. However, the Russian believes that it varies from person to person, and thus he respects Osaka’s decision.

Talking about journalists, me, I have no problems. I try always to come to press conference bad mood or good mood. And I feel like even sometimes in the bad mood I can be in a better mood after talking to you guys,” said Medvedev.

Rafael Nadal was give his own statue at Roland Garros this week, for his incredible achievements in Paris. The Spaniard has claimed 13 French Open titles, and is still the man to beat. Daniil Medvedev hopes to have his own statue in his home country, Russia soon. The world number two hilariously stated that he has to improve his performances if that is to happen.

I hope one day in Russia there is going to be a monument of Daniil Medvedev. I need to achieve better results,” said Medvedev.
