Ash Barty‘s retirement at the age of 25 when she was world no. 1 was a huge shock in itself. But now a problem poses itself as to who is going to replace Barty’s place in the center court of the Wimbledon court?

There have been talks about US Open winner Emma Raducanu being the replacement, but nothing has been set in stone yet. The match in Wimbledon starts with the defending champion playing in the center court for the first two days, as part of the tradition. But Barty’s retirement poses a problem as to who’s going to replace the former world no. 1’s position. There have been talks about the player being some of the most ” prominent players”

Ian Hewitt, the chairman of the All England Tennis Club has said that the decision has not been made yet but a variety of options were considered. Among the prominent players will be 19-year-old Emma Raducanu, the defending US Open champion who was a surprise winner, as she had entered the tournament through a wild card entry. We wonder if Raducanu will be given the opportunity to and bestowed such an honor to take the position of the defending champion. Many fans wonder if she will most likely be picked but she has a tough competition like Iga Swiatek, Paula Badosa, and Coco Gauff to name a few.

The 19-year-old has come a long way from being the US Open champion to reaching the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open that took place. The Britain player has climbed up to her ranking and will only soar higher. The teenager is currently world no. 11 and will be looking to rise higher up the ranking with the upcoming Madrid Open. Raduacanu will further look to win her first grand slam on clay in the upcoming French Open 2022 with her fierce determination and passion. The teenager parted ways with her coach, just a month away from the French Open. It will certainly be a challenge for her to find her rhythm with her new coach, but we have no doubt she will get used to the flow.

Emma Raduacanu is one of the heavy favorites to win the French Open this year, but that is not to say it won’t be without some tough opponents. Iga Swiatek, newly risen world no. 2 Paula Badosa, and many more. There may also be some rising potential who is planning on snatching the title away this year. But for the time being, she is focusing on winning the Madrid Open tournament. The round of 64 is conducted tomorrow where she will face her Billie Jean King Cup opponent Tereza Martincova, whom she has defeated before.

But we will have to wait and watch what Emma Raducanu can achieve and wish her the best of luck in her endeavors.
