REVEALED! Iga Swiatek’s Path to Claim her First US Open title

Iga Swiatek

The Polish youngster Iga Swiatek would be aiming to win her first US open title starting from 30th August at New York. With her victory at the 2020 French Open, she became the tournament’s youngest singles champion since Rafael Nadal in 2005, and the tournament’s youngest women’s singles champion since Monica Seles in 1992.

Swiatek’s quest for a second French Open championship in 2021 came to an end in the quarterfinals. Despite her outstanding performances, she was defeated in straight sets by Maria Sakkari of Greece. Unforced errors and a considerable deal of frustration made it difficult for her to defeat Sakkari.

Following the French Open, she competed at Wimbledon 2021, but was knocked out in the fourth round by Ons Jabeur. Swiatek couldn’t handle Jabeur’s speedy serve and powerful forehands.

Iga Swiatek will face a qualifier in the first round of the US Open 2021. Fiona Ferro would most likely be her opponent in the second round.

In the third round, she may face Anett Kontaveit, the world number 28. Belinda Benic, a gold medalist at Tokyo 2020, would be her fourth round opponent. This might be the toughest challenge for Swiatek so far.

If she beats the gold medalist, she’ll likely play Ash Barty, the current world number one, in the quarterfinals. Swiatek’s semi-final opponent may be Karolina Pliskova or Andreescu Bianca, if chance is on her side. Finally, she will compete for the championship against either Naomi Osaka or Barbora Krejcikova.
