Novak Djokovic opened up about the possibility of him not being to play the whole tour due to his vaccination status. The world No.1 in a recent interview talked about the reason behind him not getting vaccinated and him being ready to lose many more tournaments instead of taking the vaccine.
Most of the tournaments throughout the year will require a vaccination certificate which Djokovic isn’t ready to take. This might hinder his chances of playing the whole tour and the world No.1 is aware of this.
He will be playing his first tournament of 2022, at the Duty-free Dubai Tennis Championship. During the first press conference on his return, he was asked about the possibility of him not being able to play in most of the tournaments throughout the world with vaccination rules getting stricter and stricter.
Novak Djokovic knows he won’t play the whole tour
Novak Djokovic is finally back on to the tour and will be playing his first match in 2022 at the duty-free Dubai Tennis Championship. The world No.1 in his press conference was asked some tough questions about the coming future.
Djokovic was asked about the possibility of him not being able to play the entire tour in 2022. To which he replied by saying, “I have to follow the rules. Whatever tournament I’m able to play I’ll be trying to get to that country & play the tournament. I really can’t choose right now. Wherever I have an opportunity I’ll be using that opportunity & going to play because this is what I love to do still”
Due to Djokovic’s unvaccinated status, Djokovic was deported from Australia and wasn’t able to defend his Australian Open title in Melbourne. After some time, most of the upcoming tournaments started making vaccination compulsory to play.
This means that Djokovic might not be able to play at most of the events throughout the world. However, he said he will try to make most of the situation and try to play as many tournaments as possible.
