On Sunday, March 20, third seed Iga Świątek will face off against sixth seed Maria Sakkari in the finals of the 2022 Indian Wells Open for a shot at grabbing the BNP Paribas Open Title. Having defeated the defending champion Paula Badosa in the semifinals ( 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 ), Sakkari will be in tip-top form to fight against the Polish player.
The Indian Wells Open is one of the most significant WTA 1000 tennis events in which a player competes. Last year Paula Badosa won her career’s second title at the 2021 BNP Paribas Open against the two-time grand slam champion Victoria Azarenka after a three-hour battle.

Both the top 10 players will compete for the title of the BNP Paribas Open tomorrow. The 20-year old Polish star has been displaying a fiery playstyle, having won the Qatar Open against Anett Kontaveit in straight sets. Even her start of the year was strong and stable; reaching the semifinals in Adelaide International and the Australian Open, where she lost to World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty ( 2-6, 4-6 ) and Danielle Collins ( 4-6, 1-6 ), respectively. And now, in Indian Wells, the Polish player has been overcoming one tall hurdle after another, defeating seeded players such as Angelique Kerber, Madison Keys, and Simona Halep.
On the other hand, the 26-year old Greek player, though she didn’t win any title till now, she came very close to winning in the St. Petersburg Open, where she made it past the semifinals but went down in the finals against
Anett Kontaveit in a tough three-setter ( 7-5, 6-7, 5-7 ). She also reached the semifinals of the Qatar Open, losing to Iga Świątek ( 4-6, 3-6 ). In the Indian Wells Open, the Greek star also faced numerous tough opponents such as Petra Kvitová, Elena Rybakina, and fifth seed Paola Badosa.
