The Indian Wells Open 2021 is around the corner and will be the final WTA-1000 event while being the second-last ATP-1000 event for the season. The tournament in California will be the last tournament this season that will be played in the USA and tennis action will resume in the States directly next year.
Defending champion on the ATP Tour, Dominic Thiem will not be participating this year as he continues his recovery from the wrist injury he picked up in June and has not featured on the Tour since. Bianca Andreescu will be the defending champion on the WTA Tour and will be defending her title won in 2019 as the 2020 edition was cancelled.
The main-draw on the ATP Tour will not feature any of the past champions of the tournament with John Isner and wildcard entrant Andy Murray being the only two players who have featured in finals previously but both ended up as the runner-up.
Indian Wells Open 2021 Qualifiers and Draw Ceremony
The WTA main-draw will be held on the 4th of October while the ATP main-draw will be confirmed on the 5th of October. The tournament will begin on 4th October with the qualifying rounds kickstarting the tournament while the main-draw matches will begin from 6th October for the WTA Tour with the finals on 16th October and 7th October for the ATP Tour whose finals on 17th October will conclude the tournament.
