Currently ranked 77th in the world, former World No. 13 Nick Kyrgios is one of the most colourful characters on the ATP Tour. The Australian is as talented as some of the legends of the sport but his attitude and motivation towards the sport has often become a hurdle in him being a successful player in terms of the trophies won.

Despite Nick being a Doubles champion at the 2022 Australian Open, the Australian is yet to reach a Grand Slam semi-final in singles. His best result came in the 2014 Wimbledon and 2015 Australian Open while he is yet to breach the 3rd round mark in the French Open and the US Open.

Apart from his on-court results, Nick’s behaviour on the court has often seem being fined for showing ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’ that has seen teh plaer smash his racquet, hurl abuses and indulged in fights with the opponent, chair umpirea nd other officials which has not gone down well often with the retired players and former World No. 1 Mats Wilander recently spoke about kids imitating the Australian as told to him by retired Australian great Lleyton Hewitt.

“It’s a game where you learn a lot about life, upbringing and rules, and these guys take it to a whole different level. Lleyton Hewitt told me that all Australian kids do what Nick Kyrgios does. I’m not saying they throw racquets or anything but they hit the ball like Nick Kyrgios and that’s pretty bad in a way because Nick is so talented but he doesn’t use his feet at all in any of his kicks. He just hits with his arm. And they admire this guy. So I think it’s atrocious,” said Wilander speaking with Eurosport.
