‘It’s legitimate’- Serbian authorities finally issue clarification of Novak Djokovic’s CONTROVERSIAL Covid positive test
Novak Djokovic
World No.1 Novak Djokovic had captured the headlines for a long time because of his prolonged visa saga. The player has been finally deported to his nation after many days of investigation and court appeals. This was his chance of winning the 21st Grand Slam title before Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
Alongside his visa and stand against vaccination rows, the World No.1 was also blighted by another controversy after it came to be known that he had attended public events despite testing positive for the virus. Some people had even questioned the legitimacy of his Covid positive report, accusing him of providing false information to find loopholes to enter the Australian Open 2022.
Serbian authorities validate Djokovic’s covid-positive reports

After multiple accusations and a tonne of speculation, Serbian authorities have validated the legitimacy of Novak Djokovic’s Covid tests. The questions over the legitimacy of the test arose after two German research group Zerforschun studies had suggested that the tests’ numbers were out of the typical sequence.
However, the Belgrade Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Serbian ministry of health today came out to say that they had verified the tests. This seems to settle the speculation which was initially raised first in a report by the BBC. The Public Prosecutor’s Office said that they had inspected the electronic database in question and found out that the results were legitimate.
“It was established that Novak Djokovic was tested multiple times and the test results from December 16 and December 22 were valid,” said the prosecutors.
Djokovic was ultimately deported from Australia having seen his visa canceled after an appeal. The grounds given by the judge were however to do with his unvaccinated status at the time, rather than any suspicion over his documentation.
The World No.1 is set to compete at the Dubai Tennis Championship. The tournament is set to be held from 21st February till 26th February. That would be the Serbian’s first appearance of the new season, with him undoubtedly being extra motivated following rival Rafael Nadal’s landmark win.
