‘It’s really weird and disrespectful’ claims Daniela Hantuchova angry with Victoria Azarenka for her mid-match retirement against Linda Fruhvirtova

At one point a world ranking of no.5, and now the consultant for Amazon Prime on the Miami Open, Daniela Hantuchova was not at all happy with the way Victoria Azarenka left in the middle of the match during her third-round fixture against 16-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova. The final score was 6-2,3-0 with Fruhvirtova in the lead when Azarenka left.
It all started when the Former world no. 1 Azarenka, stopped in the middle of the game and then shook hands with the player and then the umpire even as the umpire was telling her to wait. The umpire had to cancel the match considering the fact that Fruhvirtova treated it as a normal change and that Azarenka won’t be playing in the match anymore. It was not exactly clear what happened but Azarenka could be heard shouting at her coach and asking, ” Why am I here?”

Hantuchova wants the WTA to look into it and said, “The most disrespectful part of all is the way she left the court without really giving a reason to step down. I think the WTA will have to look into this question. For me, it’s really weird and disrespectful to the public, the referee and especially Linda( Fruhvirtova). I think Vika knew that if she continued like this, she was going to leave the court very quickly. But the way she did it, that’s really not good behaviour.”
Although Azarenka apologised numerous times citing personal reasons, it was not taken up too kindly by the netizens who started tweeting comments such as, “Vika is in her mid 30’s, a multiple slam winner and former no.1. She didn’t want a loss to 16 year old ranked 279 in the world so quit towards the end of the match. This is something other former No.1s Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, Murray or William sisters would never do imo.”
Avid tennis fans don’t believe Victoria Azarenka considering the fact that she beat Emma Raducanu so ferociously. This is not the first time that this has happened considering the fact that, Azarenka broke down during the Indian Wells tournament too. Not only that, she is said to have deleted all her social media accounts after her exit from the California WTA tournament. All this gets the people wondering as to what is really going on with Azarenka.
