Karatsev and Vesnina have been terrific throughout the tournament. They have constantly pushed their opponents under pressure and their attacking game-play has been too hard to survive even for the best in the business. Whereas Rublev and Pavlyuchenkova have fought hard to make their way into the finals.

In the semifinals, Rublev and Pavlyuchenkova were cornered in the first set by Barty and Peers, but they held their nerve and eventually emerged victoriously. The odds are surely in the favor of Karatsev and Vesina as they have been more dominating throughout the Olympics, but Rublev and Pavlyuchenkova will not go down without a fight.
