Izyan Ahmad and Roger Federer
During the 2017 US Open, Roger Federer had a funny encounter when he was asked an unusual question by a kid who wanted to know why Federer was nicknamed the GOAT.
During the tournament, kids were allowed to ask questions in the press conference as part of the ‘Arthur Ashe Kids Day. The Swiss maestro was attending the press conference and was asked a tricky question by a young boy named Izyan Ahmad (Zizou). The curious question started with the kid asking if Switzerland is cold, then there wouldn’t be too much livestock, and then asked by Federer was referred to as the goat. The entire room burst into laughter at the unusual question.
“I wanted to ask you, Switzerland is really cold right, there isn’t too much livestock., So why do they call you the goat?”, Zizou asked.
Federer responded by saying he doesn’t refer to himself as the GOAT and dodged answering what the GOAT actually met. “Sometimes…sometimes they call me that. I don’t call myself that. We don’t have a lot of animals obviously. I am also a part of the livestock there, so”, Federer answered suppressing his laughter.
The flurry of questions continued with this time Zizou asked a seemingly ‘serious’ question and asked Federer to play for another 8-9 years so that he can turn pro by then and play against the Swiss maestro. “If you can make it on tour, I will make sure that I come back for you,” Federer responded
Five years later, Ahmad is nearly halfway there now and has been making waves in the junior circuit and looks on course to have a promising senior career.
