Anett Kontaveit has had a wonderful year this time around. She came into the WTA finals after winning two back-to-back titles. She won the Kremlin Cup and Translyvania Open and entered the WTA finals in some style. Moreover, in the tournament, she made her way into the finals after losing just a single match.

In the summit clash, Anett was up against Gabrine Muguruza, the only player who had cornered her in the group stage. Unfortunately for Kontaveit, Muguruza again got the better of her and defeated her in straight sets by 6-3, 7-5. Once the game ended, Kontaveit had a few points to make.

I think this season definitely has given me so much confidence, so much self-belief,” Kontaveit said after the game. She claimed that she needs a little time to reflect as she has been playing continuously for a long time now. “Looking forward to just taking some time to reflect, just think of what has happened in the last few months, because I’ve been playing matches non-stop so there hasn’t really been any time for that,” she said.
