Latest WTA Rankings after WTA Finals: Ash Barty finishes the year as World No.1 once again, Garbine Muguruza and Anett Kontaveit climb up

The action packed 2021 season is finally over with the WTA Finals at Guadalajara. Garbine Muguruza was the last woman standing after she defeated Anett Kontaveit in the final in straight sets 6-3,7-5. The season saw 4 different grand slam champions, and interestingly, only one of them played the year end finals in Mexico.

Garbine Muguruza won the 10th title of her career which pushed her up to two spots courtesy the 1375 points she gained. Anett Konatveit added 955 points to her kitty and climbed a place up to No.7- her career best ranking. Semifinalist Paula Badosa too reached a career high ranking of No.8 after gaining 625 points while Maria Sakkari retains her No.6 spot.

Aryna Sabalenka gained 250 points and retained her No.2 spot while Karolina Pliskova gains 625 points to stay the World No.4. Iga Swiatek remains on the No.9 spot while Ons Jabeur wraps up the top 10 after a three place fall.

Despite not playing the WTA Finals, Ash Barty finishes the year as the World No.1 with 7582 points. Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka finishes the year as the World No.13 after opting out for most of the season. French Open runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova ends the year as the World No.11 while Sofia Kenin ends up at No.12 spot.

US Open champion Emma Raducanu finishes at a career high of No.19 while Leylah Fernandez is ranked 24th in the world. Former World No.1’s Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber are both ranked inside the top 20.
