Ashleigh Barty, Iga Swiatek and Maria Sakkari

Iga Swiatek of Poland has been in fantastic form all year. From reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open 2022 to establishing her dominance over the Qatar Open, she has made a name for herself. She continued her incredible form in the finals of the BNP Paribas Open as well, defeating Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-1.

After her spectacular win in California, the Pole was in line for a major ranking boost. She climbed up two places in the WTA ranking ladder, reaching a career-high second place. However, as is customary, the top spot is held by Ashleigh Barty, with Swiatek lurking in the shadows, ready to take on the Aussie for the top spot.

Meanwhile, Maria Sakkari, the runner-up at 2022 Indian Wells , has climbed to No. 3 in the WTA ranking ladder. Sakkari had a fantastic run in the competition, defeating Elena Rybakina, Petra Kvitova, and defending champion Paula Badosa before losing in the final against Swiatek. Also, Barbora Kcrejcikova, the French Open champion of last year, fell to No. 4 on the rankings after losing her career-high position to Swiatek.

In the Australian Open 2022 women’s final, Ashleigh Barty won her third Grand Slam. Barty defeated American Danielle Collins in straight sets to win her home slam. Nonetheless, she appears to be untouchable at the moment, as she retains her position at the top. Iga Swiatek, the Polish tennis ace, has moved to a career-high ranking of number two, displacing Barbora Krejcikova.

Maria Sakkari climbed the rankings, tying Stefanos Tsitsipas for the highest-ranked Greek singles player of all time. She lost in straight sets to Swiatek in the finals of the Indian Wells 2022 tournament, 6-4, 6-1. When it comes to Aryna Sabalenka, the Belarusian was eliminated early from the Indian Wells 2022 tournament after losing to Jasmine Paolini in the second round, dropping herself to No. 5 on the WTA Ranking Ladder.
