“Leaving Pacific time and still smiling” Emma Raducanu shares delightful pictures from her time at the Indian Wells before jetting off to Miami
Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu seems to be in good spirits ahead of the Miami Open. Raducanu faced an early exit at the Indian Wells but seems to have taken the loss in a positive way, and is now gearing up for a better outing at the Miami Open.
The Brit teen took to Instagram to share pictures of her at the practice courts and spending time with her friends in California. She posted a compilation of photos before she jetted off to Miami, to play the second half of the Sunshine Double.
“leaving pacific time ,working through it & still smiling :)” she captioned.
Raducanu looks to have enjoyed her time in California, also known as the ‘Golden State’. The teen was seen sporting a UCLA Bruin’s jersey before she jetted halfway across the country to the East coasts of Miami.
Emma Raducanu eyes season turnaround at the Miami Open
Raducanu has had a dismal start to her season so far. Her preparations for the season were hampered when she tested positive for Covid 19 and her lack of match fitness was evident in the first-round exit at the WTA Sydney International. Her string of misfortunes continued as she crashed out in the second round of the Australian Open. The 19-year-old suffered blisters during the match and this proved to be a telling point.
There was no stop to her injury woes in the next tournament as well. Raducanu entered the WTA 250 tournament in Guadalajara as the top seed but retired midway through her opening round clash after suffering a leg injury. The reigning US Open champion appeared to have bounced back as she notched up her first win at the Indian Wells. But her string of losses continued with a third-round exit to Petra Martic in the Californian desert. The Brit said she had a minor back issue that made an impact on her serve. With the Miami Open beginning next week, Raducanu will be hoping to keep her fitness concerns behind her and return to her title-winning ways.
She will be making her debut at the WTA 1000 premiere, which begins on March 22nd. Raducanu will be hoping to wrap up her hardcourt season on a high before she enters into unfamiliar territory when the clay-court swing begins in April.
