List of records broken by Rafael Nadal after winning the 2022 Australian Open
Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal made the impossible possible at the 2022 Australian Open when the Spaniard defeated World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the finals to win the Grand Slam after a gap of 13 years having won his first in 2009. This also took him to the historic 21st Grand Slam that had earlier been missed by his fellow Big-3 members Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic who had both lost their chance to claim the 21st title.
Nadal was 0-2 down in the finals going into the 3rd set against Medvedev but rallied back strongly to win the match 2-6, 6-7(7), 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 after a marathon match of 5 hours and 24 minutes that went past 1:00 AM in Australia and became one of the longest Grand Slam finals ever played.
