US Open 2021, the final Grandslam of the year will commence from August 30 at the Flushing Meadows. Last year, the tournament was played behind closed doors, however, this year, the Grandslam will be played with fans being present in the stadium.
Dominic Thiem is the defending champion at US Open, however, he will not be present at this year’s event owing to an injury. Moreover, the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have also pulled out from the US Open this year. Novak Djokovic, 20 time Grandslam champion will be the top seed at Flushing Meadows.
Novak Djokovic has already claimed three Grandslam titles this year, and will look to claim his fourth major of the year at US Open. Daniil Medvedev, runner-up at the 2019 edition will enter the tournament as the second seed. Greek tennis sensation, Stefanos Tsitsipas will be the third seed at US Open 2021.
Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev among top seeds at US Open 2021
Alexander Zverev who claimed the Cincinnati Open title last week is seeded fourth at US Open 2021. The German finished as the runner-up last year, after he lost a five set thriller to Dominic Thiem. Andrey Rublev, runner-up at Cincinnati Open is seeded fifth.
Matteo Berrettini, runner-up at Wimbledon 2021 is seeded sixth at US Open 2021. Denis Shapovalov who reached the semifinals of Wimbledon last month is seeded seventh at Flushing Meadows.
