The start of the 2022 season has been great for World No.1 Ash Barty. She was one of the most consistent performers of the WTA Adelaide International 2022 and this resulted in her winning the tournament. Ash won against tennis star Elena Rybakina with a score of 6-3, 6-2. She was named the ITF champion along with Novak last year.
But Barty won’t stop here, this season she aims to win her third Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Amidst the controversies regarding Novak Djokovic’s participation, the player is busy grinding herself for one of the major tournaments of the season.
Ash Barty speaks on young sensation Iga Swiatek
Ash won the Semi-Finals of WTA Adelaide International by defeatist Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek with a score of 6-2, 6-4. The match between the duo was very exciting, Iga gave her best and there was a tough competition but Ash managed to win the game.
After the match, Ash lauded Iga for her performance during the game. She said Iga was a very strong opponent and she made her give her best. Barty also added about the strengths of Swiatek and how much makes herself a strong and worthy opponent.
“This is unreal. Honestly, it’s so much fun playing here tonight and Iga is an exceptional champion. She made me play my best tennis and I felt we both played pretty well. So, I had a lot of fun out here with her. Iga has the ability to take over the clue and steal your positioning. As soon as she had a chance, she had to take the initiative. I felt a good balance in running and moving and neutralizing. When I had some time, I was able to create with my right hand,” Ash said.
