The drop in the ranking of Roger Federer has caused a notable disappointment among all tennis fans across the world. This is the first time since 2000 as the winner has succumbed to his lowest rating as stated by the current ATP tour rankings. The Swiss player has not returned since Wimbledon 2021 and is suffering from knee ailments and at present is undergoing rehabilitation. Due to this, he has only played 19 matches in total in the past two years. In addition, it is likely for Federer to get back to the field before the middle of 2022.

The 40-year old swiss player was on the verge of completing his phenomenal record after having spent almost 22 years in the top-40. The dropping of the player’s ranks from 18th place to 44th was a consequence of lack of participation as the primary reason for the loss.

After a few weeks of the championship, the former world no 1 announced that he was affected by his knee condition which had to be operated on for the third time. His return to the tournaments is expected for the laver cup at London’s O2 arena in late September. It is noted that Djokovic maintains the top place despite their fall in the rankings of Federer.

The goal was to take part in the first part of 2022, but due to unanticipated circumstances, tennis fans around the world will have to wait until the Swiss player is in a favorable situation.
