Defending champion for the 2nd edition in a row, Andy Murray is all set to play in his 4th Olympic Games. Murray has so far won 3 medals at the Games, 1 Silver in Mixed Doubles at the 2012 London Olympics and 2 consecutive Singles Gold in 2012 and then defending it at the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the first to win 2 Gold medals in Singles.

Murray will be back in action for the first time since his 3rd round exit at the 2021 Wimbledon. Murray will be back on Hardcourts after almost 5 months since he last played in the Round of 16 at the 2021 Rotterdam Open. He will be looking to use his experience against the 20-year old Felix who makes his Olympics debut.

Felix Auger-Aliassime is set to make his Olympics debut as the 20-year old gears up to represent Canada in the mega-sports event. Felix has been in great form throughout the season and will look to stay confident of his chances shrugging his first-time nerves playing in the Olympics, a dream which he finally gets to fulfil.

Felix, similar to Murray last played at the 2021 Wimbledon where he reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final before losing to eventual runner-up Matteo Berrettini. While Felix was at the Rotterdam Open along with Murray, he played another tournament, the 2021 Miami Masters before switching to Clay and then on to Grass for the season.

Andy Murray vs Felix Auger-Aliassime : Prediction

Felix Auger-Aliassime

Murray will take the court with a career Hardcourt record of 361-103 and will be playing his first match on outdoor hardcourts as the Rotterdam Open was played on indoor Hardcourts. Murray is 8-5 for the season across all surfaces.

Felix will come into the tie with a career Hardcourt record of 65-45 and is 10-4 on the surface for the season. While he had a poor Clay season, he still maintains a good 24-14 overall record for the season. Looking at these numbers and the known potential of the players, the match could swing either way. However, given the better run and more time on the court, Felix looks like the one to win it.

Prediction: Felix Auger-Aliassime to win in 3-sets.
