The Israeli Tennis Association filed a complaint against Ons Jabeur following her Instagram post supporting Palestine over the on-going Israel-Palestine conflict.

One of the most trending topics around the world is the ongoing Israel-Palestine war. Celebrities and athletes are reacting and picking sides in the war. Due to their support, complaints against them are being filed, which reflect badly on their character. Tunisian star Ons Jabeur was one of the few who was targeted by Israeli officials.

Ons Jabeur has recently taken sides with Palestine and hopes for their peace to be restored. On Instagram, the Tunisian indirectly took a dig at Israel for encroachment, eliciting a plethora of reactions online.

“What Palestine has been going through during the last 75 years is indescribable. So, understanding context is important, looking at what’s happening today and deciding to ignore recent history is irresponsible and won’t bring peace. And peace is all we care about. Peace is what everyone needs and deserves,” posted Ons on her Instagram.

Now Israeli officials have contacted the WTA through the ITF following Ons’ statements about the war. “As the player belongs to the WTA, they are the body responsible for handling the case, and the union and the ITF are now waiting to see what measures they will choose to take against her,” said the chairman of the Israeli Tennis Association.

Chairman of the Tennis Association Avi Peretz further noted, “This tennis player fights, incites, and supports a murderous terrorist organization and nazi We’re glad she’s in the minority compared to the sane athletes in the rest of the world. We strengthen the security and rescue forces, trust them to do the job, and pray they return safely.

Ons Jabeur’s recent performances in Asia

World No. 7, Ons Jabeur, has had a good season in 2023. She might not have done her best on the current Asia Tour, which included some tournaments. The Asia tour started with the famous China Open, where Ons managed to win one game. She beat Ashlyn Krueger in her first match and advanced to the next round, where she lost to Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.

This was a bad start to her Asia campaign, as the Tunisian suffered an early exit. However, Ons also participated in the Zhengzhou Open, where she also won her first match.

However, due to medical reasons, the Tunisian had to withdraw from her second match of the tournament against Daria Kasatkina. However, the investigators are still on, and the fans are awaiting the response from the WTA and the ITF regarding this situation.
