The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced its list of commercial sponsors for the 2024 season. The sponsorship will be extended to both the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup (BJK Cup) events, the two premier international events for men and women respectively.

The Davis Cup currently has Dunlop, Joma, Quironsalud, and Socios as their partners. The BJK Cup on the other hand has Gainbridge, global partners Microsoft and Magellan, as well as Tory Burch, helping boost the event’s growth.

Joining this list is Stake, who will serve as the official ‘betting’ partner for both the Davis Cup and BJK Cup. Stake will be entering tennis for the first time while already having their presence in other sports. Formula 1 (Stake F1 Team), Everton Football Club in the English Premier League, UFC, and musician Drake are all supported by Stake.

As per the official ITF statement, Stake is seen as the solution to bring in more fans, promote and enhance the overall fan experience globally. The on-court action will be sought to be brought closer to fans through the platform.

ITF was cautious in approaching the betting platform. They have worked towards securing the safety with steps taken under the ITF’s integrity policy.

Protecting tennis integrity is at the centre of all we do and we are pleased to partner with Stake – an organisation with a portfolio of high-profile clients, a stated commitment to responsible business practices and significant reach among global sports fans – having conducted rigorous due diligence in line with ITF rules for betting sponsorship, which were developed in consultation with the International Tennis Integrity Agency.

Novak Djokovic led PTPA had recently exposed how betting is ruining the sport

Novak Djokovic‘s work off the court is no secret. Having served in the ATP Players Council as well, Nole felt the organization was not performing as per the player’s expectations. This led to him co-founding the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) with Canadian pro Vasek Pospisil.

During the 2023 season, the Serb exposed how tennis has been massively affected due to illegal betting. With massive pay disparity between tiers of the Tour and also the WTA and ATP Tour, the players are left as merely puppets of the establishments.

Not only Djokovic, but Marco Trungelliti also recently blasted the ITF for ignoring clear cases of match-fixing for the commercial prospects. Amid this, bringing an official betting partner could be a decision that may not sit well with players. How the top brass reacts to it, however, only time will tell.
