The main draw of the 2024 Miami Open is underway with the first-round matches being played. While quite a few players felt the fatigue of playing at the 2024 Indian Wells, many are still giving their best in Miami. The seeded players have been given a bye in the first round and thus the tournament starts for them in the second round.
However, many top players, including Naomi Osaka, Andy Murray, and Angelique Kerber, are competing in the first round. On the first day of the main draw, tennis stars like Paula Badosa, Simona Halep, and Venus Williams competed in the first round. While Halep and Williams had a heartbreak, Badosa advanced to the second round.
Now, the onus is on Osaka, Murray, and Kerber to save their reputation and book a spot in the second round. Apart from these top stars, many young talents will be also in action on Day 2 of the 2024 Miami Open. Let’s have a look at the matches scheduled for March 20.

Matches to watch out for on Day 2 at 2024 Miami Open
Naomi Osaka vs. Elisabetta Cocciaretto
Japanese tennis ace Naomi Osaka will be in action on Day 2 of the 2024 Miami Open. The four-time singles Grand Slam champion will open her campaign at the Masters tournament against Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Osaka has not been her best since her comeback to the tour.
Now, having spent some good time on the tour, Osaka will be hoping to topple her Italian opponent and book herself a second-round clash with Elina Svitolina. The 26-year-old will hope to make the most of the opportunity when she takes the court on Wednesday.
Andy Murray vs. Matteo Berrettini
British tennis star Andy Murray is not having the best time on the tour. The 36-year-old is struggling big time as he has suffered quite a few first-round exits. The veteran tennis star bowed out of the Indian Wells after a defeat in the first round.
Now, Murray has been pitted against Matteo Berrettini in the first round of 2024 Miami Open who possesses some top-drawer skills. It will be a challenging task for the Briton to go past his Italian counterpart. Nevertheless, Murray will fancy his chances.
Sloane Stephens vs. Angelique Kerber
German tennis veteran Angelique Kerber recently made a comeback to the tour. While she did not have a great time in the first few tournaments, Kerber enjoyed a great time in Indian Wells.
The 36-year-old reached the fourth round at the Masters tournament where she lost to Caroline Wozniacki. Now, Kerber will be up against Sloane Stephens. It will not be an easy task for the German ace, considering Stephens has been performing decently as of late.
