History was created yet again at the Australian Open as Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden clinched their first Major title of the year. After many trials and errors, the duo found their luck at the best stage in Melbourne and made their names in the books of history. 

The duo of Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopanna entered their first Australian Open finals together and made both their countries proud with the straight-set victory.

They might have won in straight sets, but it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. Their Italian opponents kept the tension rising and played every point with their lives. Trying their level best, they fell short of the team seeded at No. 2.

The man of the hour, Bopanna, got the whole of the Indian subcontinent celebrating his victory as he took Indian tennis to a whole different level. 

The 43-year-old man becomes the oldest man ever to win a Grand Slam and finds himself lifting his country’s name to greater heights. Soaring high in the Rod Laver Arena is the Australian flag, accompanied by the Indian flag, to create a historic moment right after India’s 75th Republic Day.

At the Australian Open, the dream team of Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopanna secured their first Grand Slam title by beating Simone BolelliAndrea Vavassori in straight sets 7-6(0), 7-5. Rod Laver Arena held the country’s flag high as the fans rejoiced with pride.

On the cusp of history, the man from Coorg played a huge role tonight to win big at the Australian Open. With this win, the mystic server Bopanna, who had confused his opponents with his deadly serves, saw himself on top of men’s doubles tennis. He is assured a top position at World No. 1, as his partner Ebden follows closely at No. 3. 

Taking around 61 attempts to win a maiden Slam, the 43-year-old surpassed Rajeev Ram (58 attempts) to become the man with the most tries before winning his first Slam.

Extremely proud of his work is also India, which nominated the tennis star for the prestigious Padma Shri award. After winning a huge title in Australia, Bopanna would be honored more if he managed to win the Padma Shri award.
