Ons Jabeur
Ons Jabeur is enjoying a meteoric rise this season. The Tunisian no.1 has had a fairytale season so far. After a rough start to the season, she bounced back by winning her first WTA 1000 title at the Mutua Madrid Open, becoming the first Tunisian and Arab player to win at this level.
She followed this up by reaching the finals of the Italian Open and picking up her second title of the season at the WTA German Open. Only a few weeks later, she attained a career-high ranking of no. 2. She furthered her season by reaching the finals at this year’s Wimbledon, becoming the first African woman, and the first Arab or North African player, in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam singles final. She lost the final to Elena Rybakina, 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.
