2-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray reached his second tour final of the season but unfortunately, went down fighting in the final to Matteo Berrettini. He lost the final in three sets 4-6,7-5,3-6 and towards the end of the match, felt a little discomfort in his hip and abs. Murray has struggled with injuries for the last few years and after a career threatning hip surgery, plays with a metal hip.

During the third set, Murray struggled while serving and on account of the pain, called a trainer and took a medical timeout. He finished the match but definitely wasn’t at his 100%. After the match, Murray revealed that he got some pain while serving but it wasn’t new to him. He said that he has no idea about how severe his injury is and will get it checked once he gets back home.

He added that he hasn’t played so much tennis in a short span of two weeks since 2016. Hence, it is understandable that he might feel a little discomfort.

“I don’t really know. I got some pain in my ab when I was serving. Not something I have never had before. So I don’t know. I need to get it checked when I get home. This is the most matches I have played in two weeks since probably 2016. I’ve played nine matches in 14 days. I played like Thursday through Saturday last week in Surbiton then Thursday through to Sunday here,” he said.

He then talked about his Stuttgart Open performance and said that he has had a very good couple of weeks but the end to it was very frustarting for him.

“So it’s probably normal that I would feel some stuff in my body but I don’t really know the severity of it. I’ll need to get it checked out. Hopefully, it is alright. I’ve had some good wins, it has been a good week, but not the way I wanted to finish. A frustrating end to what was a good week,” he said.
